Maintaining your brakes

Brakes wear out with constant use, so it is essential to have your garage check them regularly to guarantee your safety and that of your passengers. But the question is, when?

Here are some warning signs that your brakes need attention and that you must have your vehicle checked without delay:

• a stiff, soft or springy brake pedal;
• a slack feeling in the brake pedal or steering wheel;
• a pedal that tends to get stuck in the floor;
• a long braking distance;
• the vehicle swerves when you brake;
• ABS and/or ESP warning lights not adjustable;
• Brake indicator lights are on continually or intermittently (depending on the vehicle’s specifications).
