French motorway tolls go up

French motorway tolls increased on 1 February 2014. The good news is that this time round the average percentage increase is lower than last year’s. Whereas last year’s increase was 2.5%, this year it is between 0.7% and 1.6%, depending on the length of journey and the Department. The increase is an adjustment that takes account of VAT (value added tax), hence the 0.33% rise.
