Now that the summer season is approaching many motorcaravanners
neglect the importance of staying hydrated, especially during long journeys.
The most aggravating factor is the atmosphere inside the vehicle; it tends to
dry out too much and it may cause different types of physical and mental
discomfort.
On drinking water
The following is likely to surprise you and can even cause concern if you do not drink enough water.
A glass of water can appease hunger or quench the
"typical midnight eating" and as it was found in a university study,
"Water University USA", is followed by almost 100% of diets.
- The lack of water is the nº 1 factor activation of fatigue during the day. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain in 80% of patients.
- A decrease of only 2% of body water can cause momentary loss of short term memory, trouble with basic maths and difficulty in focusing on the computer screen.
- Drinking 5 glasses per day decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, reduces breast cancer by 79% and 50% evidenced less likely to develop bladder cancer.
